Renting Boats in Peachland, BC
Okanagan Lake is the reason most people come to Peachland, and a day on the water is the best way to see the shoreline you have been looking at from the deck. MacKenzie House is a few minutes up the hill rather than on the beach, so the two practical questions are where to get a boat and where to put it in. Both have straightforward answers.
Launching and mooring in Peachland
There are several public access points along the shore:
- The Beach Avenue boat launch, in Strachan Bay near the yacht club
- A double concrete ramp at Pincushion Bay, at the south end of town
- A public launch at the Trepanier Creek inlet, just north of the green docks
- Access at the “T”, known locally as Doggy Beach
All of them get busy on July and August weekends. An early start is worth an hour of queuing with a trailer.
Pentowna Marina
The marina in Peachland itself, and mainly a moorage operation rather than a rental one. Slips are let by the season and are usually fully booked, though short-term spots occasionally come free and the harbourmaster keeps a waiting list — reachable directly on 778-740-9998. The Blind Angler Restaurant and the Edgewater Marine Centre are on the same site, which makes it a reasonable destination even without a boat.
Renting a boat
There is no large rental fleet in Peachland itself. Most visitors either have a boat delivered or collect one in West Kelowna or Summerland.
Delivered to you
- Easy Boat Rentals — delivers anywhere in the Central Okanagan, either to the nearest launch or by water
- Kelowna Boat Rentals — delivers to a location of your choosing and runs through operation and safety on handover
- Kickin’ Back Boat Rentals — based in Lake Country, delivers around the valley
Collected in person
- LakeSurf Premium Rentals, West Kelowna
- Okanagan Lake Boat Rentals — powerboats, wake surf boats, pontoons and personal watercraft
- SunWave Boat Rentals
- Summerland Waterfront Resort, about twenty-five minutes south
Before you book
- You need proof of competency to drive it. Anyone operating a motorised boat in Canada must hold a Pleasure Craft Operator Card, visitors included. If you do not have one, the rental company can complete a Rental Boat Safety Checklist with you at the dock, valid for that rental. Confirm which applies before you arrive, not on the morning.
- Book well ahead for July and August. The good boats go first and the calm morning slots go fastest.
- Ask what is not included. Fuel is usually extra and on a big pontoon it is not trivial. Check the security deposit, the refuelling policy on return, and whether towing equipment costs more.
- Match the boat to the day. A pontoon is right for a slow day with family, shade and a cooler. A runabout or wake boat is right if anyone intends to be towed. They are not interchangeable.
- Go early. The lake is usually glassy first thing and choppier through the afternoon once the wind fills in. Morning is also the better light for the shoreline.
- Budget honestly. As a rough guide for 2026, a smaller boat for a full day runs into the high hundreds and a large pontoon comfortably past a thousand, before fuel. Get the quote in writing.
Once you are on the water
Okanagan Lake is big, deep and colder below the surface than it feels at the top, and the rules that matter here — the 10 km/h limit within 30 metres of shore, the marked swim zones off Peachland, and the shallow water and submerged rock around Rattlesnake Island and Squally Point — are worth reading before you cast off. We have set them out in our guide to boating safely on Okanagan Lake.

Our family of seven enjoyed our 5-night stay. The house was spacious, pristine, well appointed and equipped with a wonderful lake view. The pool was great with the hot Okanagan weather.
We had a wonderful weekend at this lovely home in Peachland! The view was incredible… Beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was really well equipped which made it easy for home cooking! Would highly recommend for a group looking to spend a weekend in the area.
Lovely dog-friendly home. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Fantastic deck with gorgeous views and loved the fully fenced back yard with pool. Great communication from the host.
